Testimonials - Academia

The Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada (September 1997 - July 1999)

"Andy was my student at The Richard Ivey School of Business from 1997-1999 and distinguished himself at Ivey by his exceptional academic performance.

Andy was one of only six MBA students across Canada to be selected for the much coveted Nortel Global Challenge Scholarship for Cdn $ 30,000. He was also one of only three students in his MBA class of 210, to be awarded the Citibank award (Cdn $ 2,500) for academic excellence. He graduated from Ivey in the Dean's Honor List.

Andy led a team of four students in his second year Marketing Planning class on what is perhaps, the first research project on e-commerce at Ivey. The team provided valuable insights into Cisco System's fulfillment model that was closely integrated with marketing and sales, to deliver exceptional service to customers cost-effectively. He also delivered a significant research project as part of his consulting stream requirements in the third semester, that presented opportunities in unexplored segments in the consulting industry in Canada, for graduating MBA students from Ivey.

Andy Dé, by virtue of his academic performance and awards, has performed exceptionally well as a graduate student in the MBA class of 1999 at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. I wish him the very best in all his future endeavors."

Nabisco Professor of Marketing, Richard Ivey School of Business, London, Ontario, Canada, and former Professor of Marketing, INSEAD, France

TelAviv International School of Management (TISOM), TelAviv, Israel (August 1996 - August 1997)

"Andy was my student and graduate research assistant at the Tel Aviv International School of Management (TISOM) in Israel from 1996-97.

He was only one of three students from India and one of only eight from Asia to be awarded a full scholarship of US $ 30,000, based on his exceptional academic credentials and experience.

As my graduate research assistant he researched and helped create course curriculum of an exceptional quality for a new course in high-technology marketing that was being taught for the very first time. He led a team of four international students on a market research project for an Israeli small-office products company and helped them identify untapped market segments in North-America for their new product line. The market research was outstanding in terms of its depth, analysis and deliverables and the client was more than happy.

Andy graduated with distinction from the TISOM MBA program, standing second in the graduating class of 45 students drawn from 16 countries around the world. His performance as a MBA student, graduate research assistant and market researcher far exceeded my expectations - and I have high expectations.

I am confident that he will contribute immensely to any company or country he joins."

University of Florida , Gainesville, Florida, USA (August 1988 - December 1990)

"It is a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Mr. Dé for membership in Tau Beta Pi. In my opinion, Mr. Dé is very deserving of this honor. He has a superbly balanced education in liberal arts, science and engineering and his presence in my group has been rewarding for my students and for me. He has performed well in the classroom, and in his research he has excelled. Last January, he presented an award winning student paper on his work at one of our professional engineering meetings.

There are some qualities that cannot be measured in the classroom or in the laboratory. Andy is one of those rare individuals who is always willing to go the "extra" mile to help his classmates and his professor. Above all, Andy is loyal, honest and caring."

Andy's Thesis Advisor - Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), Blacksburg, Virginia, and former Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL .

"I was a co-advisor to Andy Dé on his master's research from 1989 to 1990, while he pursued his Master of Science (M.S) Degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. It is with great pleasure that I recommend Mr. Dé for membership in the Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society. Mr. Dé is a very intelligent, enthusiastic and self-motivated young man who has done some outstanding research at the University of Florida on new and exciting processing techniques for the production of high strength engineering ceramics.

His exceptional academic background and performance earned him a scholarship with full tuition waver from the State of Florida, as well as a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to support his entire graduate research. The scholarship and tuition waiver cumulatively amounted to over US $ 46,000 over 1989 and 1990.

His research effort culminating in his master's thesis and four publications, was outstanding in quality and was very significant for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiative at the University of Florida and the hi-tech ceramics manufacturing industry in North-America. His work has been extensively cited in a number of publications in the US and abroad.

Andy's outstanding research was recognized and rewarded by a prestigious award citation and US$ 3,000 from the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) at the 14th National Conference on Advanced Ceramics and Composites at Cocoa Beach, Florida, in January 1990. This was a very significant honor and accomplishment for a student of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida."
